Happy Heinys Overnight Test Drive Update 04/11/2011
Okay, the Happy Heinys are working wonderfully, with a few adjustments. Here is our progress. Night 14- 27 - DD, DS, both had wet trainers and dry beds Night 28 - DD, DS, both had wet trainers and wet beds Night 29 - DD, DS, both had wet trainers and wet beds Okay, after 2 nights of both children having wet beds, I wasn't sure what the problem was. I realized that when I was stuffing my trainers, I was not pulling the inserts all the way to the front. So, from now on, I will pull them all the way to the front and top. I added a bamboo inset that I had for extra precaution. Night 30 - DD, DS, both had wet trainers and dry beds Night 31 - DD, DS, both had wet trainers and dry beds So, my adjustments helped and we have dryness again! Yah! Please look for more information on my Happy Heinys Trainers test drive in the future. I will be testing them with the Happy Heinys Hemp Stuffins next. Everyone is better in our house too! Add Comment Happy Heinys night 11 = DD wet trainer, dry bed, DS dry all night again, WOW Night 12 = DD wet trainer, dry bed, DS wet trainer, dry bed Night 13 = DD wet trainer, dry bed, DS wet trainer dry bed I'm so excited about these Happy Heiny trainer pants. My children pull them on and off so easily to go potty and they haven't leaked, they are fabulous. Yah, no more buying pull ups, I'm saving about $40 per month. I only have 1 trainer for my 4 year old since he mostly stays dry. I have 2 trainers for my 3 year old since she is wet everynight. We are home sick with 2 double ear infections. My 3 year old got her first ear infection ever. Strangely, she has never once complained about her ears, everytime I ask her, she says her tummy hurts. She had a fever that hit 103 for 5 days straight, today it only went to 102, hopefully she is on the mend. The pediatrician said ear infections in children over 2 usually resolve on their own, but since hers had a high fever it might not, after a week of fever, we decided to give her the antibiotic and she still has a high fever. Oh well, hopefully she will feel better tomorrow. The baby has her 2nd double ear infection and her 1st fever, poor baby. Thankfully it only went to 101.7 on one day and she only needed one dose of acetaminophen and the fever has not come back. I'm exclusively breastfeedng her and delaying solids with the hope of protecting her tiny ears. I hope by my next post all of my children will be well. New AAP Carseat Recommendations 03/22/2011
I have to say when I read the article today about the new AAP recommendations for keeping your child rear facing, I was thrilled. My carseats hold a child up to 35 pounds rear facing and that is what they were designed for and it is safer for your child, why not do it? In September 2010, I turned my 4 year old front facing for the first time ever because he was finally 35 pounds and had reached the maximum weight for rear facing in his Britax Marathon carseat. My 27 pound 3 year old and 20 pound infant will remain rear facing until they are 35 pounds and have reached the maximum weight for rear facing in their car seats. I hope these new requirements save more lives of our precious children. "In a new policy published in the April 2011 issue of Pediatrics (published online March 21), the AAP advises parents to keep their toddlers in rear-facing car seats until age 2, or until they reach the maximum height and weight for their seat. It also advises that most children will need to ride in a belt-positioning booster seat until they have reached 4 feet 9 inches tall and are between 8 and 12 years of age." First Post! 03/21/2011
Happy Heiny's Trainer Pants Overnight Testdrive Last year my children outgrew their overnight cloth diapers. I tried the bedwetting pants, they leaked badly. I tried Good Nites, they also leaked badly for my son. Huggies pull-ups worked, but with 2 children in pull-ups, I really didn't like how much waste I was creating for the landfills and how much I was spending each month. Every morning their pull-ups would be soaking wet, and many nights my son's bed would be wet too, which meant a middle of the night pj change and changing the sheets. When my daughter started waking up in the middle of the night to go potty, her pull up would be wet and she would want a new one, so sometimes, I'd use 3 nighttime pull ups in 1 night, SIGH. So, I began my quest for a cloth overnight alternative. I've used and been happy with Happy Heiny's cloth diapers in the past, when I saw they had training pants with pockets for stuffing, and claimed to work for 12+ hours, I decided to give them a try. For each child, I got the pull on with no snaps, I stuff the pocket with 1 prefold diaper with 2 Happy Heiny microfleece inserts. They pull on just like underwear, except they are poofy and soft, which has not bothered my children. I had a talk with them and told them, this is your Big Boy and Big Girl night time underwear and I let them know I'd like it if they could try to go pee in the potty at night instead of in their pants, they were both excited to try, Yah, for me. My daughter is 3.25 yrs old and my son is 4.75 yrs old. I let them go to bed with their water at night and I let them drink as much water as they want. I drink water at night, and I don't want to keep them from drinking, I know, if I take away their water, that might help, but I would not like it if someone took my water away. :) DD = Dear Daughter DS = Dear Son Here is our testdrive results so far: Night 1: DD went potty 2 times before falling asleep, she slept for 13 hours, she wet her pants a little that night, the Happy Heinys did not leak and my bed was dry, DS went potty about 20 times before bed and told me that he would be dry in the morning, he slept 12 hours, his trainer was wet, his bed was dry. No leaks, good news. Night 2: DD went potty 1 time before bed, slept 12 hrs, trainer was wet, bed was dry, DS went potty about 20 times again and woke up DRY!!!! WOW, it's a miracle.
